Wardrobe Restyle: The Classic Trench

ree

Do you have something in your wardrobe that is on every 'must have' list, but it has never made you feel great? Yep. For me it's this classic trench.

A ‘Columbo’ trench is a classic and versatile piece that is very practical for the Sydney climate. However, beige makes me look like a corpse.

I have owned this one for about ten years. It has been in and out of the charity bag

a number of times.

Trying it on and looking at it as an #asistylist what should I do 🤔 - 👍 or 🚮 ?

Before making a decision, I experimented, trying a range of tops, to see if different colours up close to my face can make a difference.

Yes, clearly that helps ✅, and the scarf helps too - that’s how I have been making it work all along ✅

(Obviously a bright 💄 would also help, but make up to make it work is a complete no no for me except in ‘emergencies’.)

But I want everything in my wardrobe to work hard and be more versatile. So, if I’m really honest, does a coat that I have to wear a scarf or a high neck line with really hit that mark? ❌

Conclusion: I need to walk the talk as a stylist that believes in wardrobes working for you, and working harder:

In the words of my amazing teacher @clairejensenstyle ‘If its not a f#$k yeah, it has to be a f#$k no’.

It is finally time to say goodbye to the beige trench and have on my ‘wardrobe gaps’ list a coat that does this job in another colour. ‘Release Rail’ for the trench 🚮 🚮🚮
