Wardrobe Restyle: Purple

Colour is our #1 draw card when buying clothes (ahead of fit, which should be first, and fabric), and so it is for my purple skirt and top.
As much as the colour of this purple outfit works for me though, I have never been quite happy with the way the skirt or top fit. They both add ‘bulk’ to my waist, which hides my curve and makes me a ‘column’. And the skirt is that ‘neither here nor there’ length.
In November and December I am setting out to 'restyle or release' items in my wardrobe I'm not wearing. I am aiming to hit 2026 with a wardrobe that is working harder, is easier to dress from, and really says who I am.
Trying these pieces on, using my #asistylist skills, what to do 🤔 - 👍 or 🚮 ?
Before making a decision, I experimented. Trying other tops first, to see if different shapes helped the skirt. Better but not ✅✅✅

I also want everything in my wardrobe to be more versatile. So, the experiment with the coloured tops did show me that the skirt would work really well with a range of bright complementary colours (and I’m sure also white).✅✅
BUT can we ‘fix’ the skirt? 🤔 A good look at the waist band suggests the turnover could be unpicked. That little five minute job gave me an extra few centimetres on the length and thinned out the bulk at the waist so it sits better - ✅✅

Conclusion: ‘Release rail’ for the top. The skirt is not a ✅✅✅ - it lives to fight another day, but it's on probation!
